Postpartum Recovery & why

Why and when to do pelvic floor therapy
Why and when to do pelvic floor therapy

Postpartum is a huge change for our bodies, emotions, and pelvic floor. Often times the body heals on it's own in time. For those whose bodies need a little help, pelvic floor therapy can work wonders. Typical symptoms include: vaginal heaviness/pressure (does not always mean prolapse), urinary incontinence, PAIN, rectus diastasis, fecal incontinence, weakness, and just not feeling the same. Postpartum is often considered 12 weeks...I've heard others say 7 years. Some women are ready at their 6 week follow to get started recovering bc they are ready to see those changes. For some women postpartum has too much going on and prefer to wait maybe 1-2 years+. The takeaway message is this, it's never too early nor too late to improve your pelvic floor health and function. My goal at Optimize is to create a healing space you can bring your newborn or not. Come in and nurse if you need to. I have a space for tummy time or baby can nap in the carseat/stroller. This is a welcoming space and here to promote healing and improving your body and needs to be the best mom and version of yourself possible. Ask your dr/ob for a referral or give me a call and get scheduled. Lets improve your postpartum symptoms and hopefully reduce postpartum anxiety/depression too.
