Vaginismus

If you have been diagnosed with Vaginismus, you know what it is without googling the definition. When I think of this diagnosis, I immediately think of the difficulty and frustrations with summer time activities to include beach trips, swimming, chilling by the pool, and lake days. I think of frustrations with consummating a marriage, and June weddings are quickly approaching. Not only consummating a marriage, but also enjoying intimacy however that looks to you.

Vaginismus is defined as recurrent or persistent involuntary spasms of the musculature of the vagina. This can lead to difficulty with wearing tampons, speculum exams by an OBGYN, and intimacy.

While vaginismus can be frustrating, it can be treated by a pelvic floor therapist. This is one of many diagnoses I truly enjoy treating bc of how much it impacts a woman's quality of life but also gives her so much freedom to live life fuller and ensure pelvic health and wellness through successful pelvic/vaginal exams w/ a health care provider.

If you believe you have this, please call your doctor today and ask for a referral to Optimize Pelvic Health and Wellness in Forsyth. Let's get you ready for the best summer yet!
